Visa questions - VOA / Border Xing

Hello!

I am currently riding through New Zealand and headed to Vietnam in a couple days. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get a Visa through the local consulate in time so I opted for the Visa on Arrival route. I have the document and will at least be able to get into the country with it. I've read that I can not get through land border crossing though. I am looking to buy a bike and ride through to Cambodia during my two month stay.

Question is, does anyone know of a way so that I can get an alternative visa so that I can cross the land border on a bike once I'm actually in Vietnam?

Cheers!

Tim

Hi Tim, I'm just about to leave Scotland for Hanoi arriving on the 15th Sep. if all goes to plan. I went through a visa agency in the UK to set mine up which is for a 3 month multiple entry visa as I intend to do a similar trip to yours, criss-crossing into Laos/Cambodia. It may be worth having a look at:

Vietnam Visa|Premier Vietnam Visa Website for Business & Tourists

Best of luck, maybe see you there for a beer. Ride safe.

Hi Mike!

Congrats that's awesome!

I'll let you know how it goes. I have the exact same type of setup. Multi entry for three months.

The gal at the airport had to ask a few people first but they let me on to the plane so we'll see what happens when I get there! I've read that border crossings want to see evidence that you've *left* Vietnam. I'm going to ask them to glue the visa into my passport in the hope that will satisfy that requirement at the border.

Cheers,

Tim

Happy to report that my VOA went through quickly without trouble.

Few notes:

* Visa appears to be the exact same as the one you get from a consulate outside VN.

* Visa is glued into pass port.

* Applied and received multi-entry.

* Cost $95 USD. (Make sure the USD notes are in pristine condition. No marks or ink of any kind or they will not take them)

* Be sure to bring an extra passport photo
I'll try and cross the Cambodia border and see what happens later this month.

Also we should definitely grab a beer once you're settled in.

Cheers
