Tyres in Pakistan

We plan to pass through Pakistan in about June 2017 and would like to fit new, decent quality tyres to our 2016 Africa Twin prior to crossing over the KKH and into China, Pamir's and beyond.

Is there available anywhere in Pakistan 21 x 90/90 & 18 150/70 tyres. In an ideal world I'd prefer Mitas E07 Dakars, Hidenau K60 Scouts or similar. But of course anything half decent in that part of the world would do.

Thanks in advance.

Graeme.

Hey, it will at least be very difficult to find them. There are not a lot of big bikes around. Most are 70 cc some go up to 150 cc.
But we were told that the tyre shops around here are probably the best in the country.
https://goo.gl/maps/NGxxMHZoPuG2 There are quite a few in Google Maps. You may try calling them. Just don't expect them to really do anything unless you are standing in their shop.
Another great resource you may try is the motorcycle association of Pakistan. Join their facebook group. Somebody will help you! https://www.facebook.com/groups/MAPakistan/

Hey man, I doubt its possible. I am in Pakistan right now with my africa twin and if you really want to get these tyres, either make sure somebody has them here, or do it the way I did: bring them from turkey.

Thanks for the quick replys. I'm coming from the other direction and it's damn difficult to get anything decent in S.E.A. and I'm already in Indonesia. Hmm, I'll figure it out.

Get tyres in Malaysia or Thailand. There should be a relatively good selection of big bike tyres there - although not like Oz or Europe. India and Pakistan it will be very difficult to find something that fits at all...

Heidenau dealer in Thailand:

Cheers Snakeboy, thats the way I'm going. Order two sets for Chang Mai. Fit one and carry another set. Thanks for the link. I've already contacted Joe in Chang Mai and I'm steering towards the Eo7's.

Oh, I've been riding with Dazza recently, thought you might like to know.

Most of the big bike tires available in Pakistan are made in Korea, Thailand or India and their availability can be a bit erratic.

Even if they are unable to find your exact requirement they can make something work.

Good luck.

You will find nothing in Pakistan.
I had to fly a new K60 scout in from the UK to Islamabad for a not too hefty price. I got the tyre I wanted that way only.
Sure, there are tyres in Thailand but you will need to order and wait and there is no guarantee you will find Mitas or Heidi. Easily available are Pirelli in Chang Mai and Karroo 3 in Bangkok. Neither will give you much more than 10K km.
The Heidi dealer in Thailand is unreliable. Front tyres only or please wait for next shipment ....a few weeks. Order well in advance!

Good luck!

Piston Shop in Chiang Mai usually have several types of adventure bike tyres in stock such as Pirelli MT60, Karoo3, Anakee etc. The owner speaks fluent english and usually answers messages quickly.

I got 15-16 k kms out of the Pirelli MT60s and they are by far the best tyres out of 8-9 different sets I had on my Tenere660 BTW... :-)
