Temporary Import Permit in Middle East (including the Stans)
 

Hi fellow travelers!

I started my motorcycle journey from Cape Town South Africa 2 weeks ago and I am currently in Zambia. Since I do not have a Carnet I am only planning to go to Sudan, or if not, Ethiopia and then enter Middle East by ferry from either port Suakin Sudan or from Djibouti to Yemen.

From there I was thinking about traveling back to China through Iran and the stans. I know I would not be able to enter China without a Carnet but I have decided to sell the bike in the last Stan country near the Chinese border and go back to China(I’m a Chinese citizen).

My question is: is it possible to travel thru Middle East countries without a Carnet? Could they issue temporary import permit?

Any relative suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
