Someone else's bike
Hi!
I'm considering buying a motorbike up in Kathmandu. It has a current carnet but it's Australian rego is expired. The suggestion is that I keep all the paperwork in the current owners name and we do the paperwork to give me power of attorney over the bike. I'm planning to go from Nepal, through India, north Pakistan, the NW corner of China (with a guide), Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran and finally Turkey. Is this mad? Has anyone done something similar with a bike in someone else's name? |
I rode a rental bike in TJ and KG with a power of attorney or something like it from the Owner. It seemed nobody cared at the border crossings. I can only speak for these 2 countries.
