Securing India visa from Pakistan (non-Pak nationality)

A word of warning for anyone in Pakistan attempting to get a visa for India.

The process is as follows:
1. Create account on government visa website and complete application form
2. Print application form (2 copies), add photos (2 by 2 inch) and sign
3. Bring the forms, your passport and accompanying documents to TCS Visatronix

Warning - if one of the entries in the online form contains more than 50 characters, they will be unable to read the form at the Embassy end and will ask you to do the above steps again (just the application form). The web form does not automatically warn you the you have maxed out the number of characters in some of the entries (at least not in July 2022).
We were caught out with the address of our hotel in India. :D

Additional info - when applying from Pakistan, you are unlikely to get more than 3 months, single entry. This is mentioned on the consulate website. Some travellers have succeeded in getting more but as far as we know, that has been achieved by engaging with the consulate directly.

nice to know, where did you go to the embassy, in Islamabad i would think, are you going to cross Wagah-border, because there is very few information about it at the moment, i know people get hrough wit bike and motorhome recetly, but no real infirmation about it. I will be there also by car in october or november, any info always welcome !!

You don’t go to the embassy directly, the intermediary is TCS Visatronix (easy to find on Google maps), link on the consulate website.
We’ve been through the Wagah border this week, no problems, very straightforward. Lots of overlanders are getting through.

Nice info, and how long did it take to arange everything ?? And Wagah border is more or less working as it did in 2019 ?? I am going to Cambodia, only 1 border still to open, TAMU-MOREH at Indian-Myanamr border, and got some inside info, it would "probably" open before the end of the year.
Cheers and have a save trip !!

Hi,
If you can get your papers sorted, dropping off your application at TCS is fast and some people received their 3m single entry visa within three days. It’s the luck of the draw though because if you encounter issues like us, it can take a month.

No problems at Wagah border, they are well versed with the carnets, it’s a smooth process and was deserted when we went through.

Happy travels
