Procedure for crossing the Irkesham pass on a motorbike, China to Kyrgyzstan
 

Hi, have been looking around online but can't find how it works. There is a border check 140km before the border itself on the Chinese side. Can we just turn up there in the morning and expect to be able to drive ourselves straight to the border, without any permits? Otherwise we might cross straight into Kazakhstan, if that's easier. We don't have a Chinese DL, any info if that might be checked? Help much appreciated!
