Is it possible to buy bike in Singapore and ride to London

G'day guys,

A mate and I are planning on riding from Singapore to London, and everywhere in between, mid next year. Were from Australia, but are planning on flying to Singapore and starting from there.

Is it possible to buy a bike in Singapore ride it to London/Europe and then sell it there? Or does the bike need to come from country of rider in order to get Carnets etc?

If it's possible/practical to buy a bike in Singapore can anyone recommend good dealer?

One more thing, a lot of posts talk about China being difficult to ride through. Is it worth riding through(in particular, through Tibet/bhutan/Nepal) or might it be easier to ship bike to Kathmandu or Dhaka and ride from there.

Any feedback would be great! Thanks

Doug

My friend, anything is possible. Though probably not selling the bike when you get to London, you'll most probably have to export it. Ship it back home and keep it, not as expensive as you might think. There are shipping pages about it on here.

Its quite easy to ride through China if you are rich, otherwise you might have to do what we are doing and ship to avoid Burma. We are in process of going from Bangladesh to Thailand now.

I think it would be incredible to ride thru China, but you will need a lot of money or contacts in high places to do it. They dont really want independant travellers there at the mo.

Either way it would be an amazing trip. Good luck with it all, but definitely do it!!!

All the best, Nicky.
