Pokhara - 6 days riding - where to go?

2 friends and I will be flying into Pokhara next April. We've got 250 dirt bikes lined up and had planned on riding up to Muktinath and back over a 6/6.5 day period, along the Kali Gandaki corridor.

Now, given the road building project along there that I've been reading about, is this still going to offer up fun riding in the midst of the Himalayas, or would there be another route better suited to this? Our brief is simple - long days of riding amongst greater scenery, the more remote and the higher the altitude the better (albeit with time to acclimatise...).

Thanks

The simple answer is go anywhere for adventure. I spent just over 3 weeks there in Aug/Sept 2015 and everywhere was breathtaking.
Most more remote roads, if they can be called that, were a challenge on an Enfield. A dirt bike will be a breeze.
Avoid Kathmandu if you value your Lungs !
Allow plenty of time wherever you go.
Seriously go anywhere you will have a ball.
The Nepali people are just the best!

One thing to watch out for : White mini buses they will try to kill you. Keep out of the way at all costs!

Thanks for the tips, Tim! Great advice!

Even though it's 5 months away, excitement is getting the better of me and I'm pouring over maps already. Can't wait!

try the other side of the annapurna trekking route, up to Manang.

I did it in 2013, and some of the footbridges were being replaced with car sized ones.. Had to drag the bikes through the odd waterfall. Hardest ride of my life but sure was worth it! I've also been up to Muktinath twice as I was based in Pok for 8 months...

Thanks - how long would it typically take to ride to Muktinath on 250cc dirt bikes, ridden by semi-competent bikers?

Which route offers the best riding and scenery - Muktinath or Manang?

I'd love for us to tackle the Thorong La pass and complete the loop, but that may be a little tough...!!

6 days? seriously?

it seems totally worthless to go there in such a rush. 6 weeks would be ok. 6 months better. ride southwest from Pokhara on the cool road down to the Terai, then loop back through Mugling. But in 6 days? Really?

Winning the lottery, being 6ft tall and dashingly good looking would be nice too, but we can all dream!

I've got to make the most of limited days of annual leave from work - I can't wait to ride through an area I've wanted to visit for years, even if it's not the full immersive experience you get from weeks and months on the road.
