Pakistani VOA for 24 Nationalities.
 

Couldnt find the news in English but it says Government of Pakistan changed its policy and would be issuing Visa on Arrival to nationals of 24 countries including US and UK.
Apparently it is for groups only, however a positive development.

The “Group Tourist Visas on Arrival” are being issued to citizens of following 24 countries.
According to an advertisement issued by the immigration authorities of FIA, this facility will be for those coming to tour for tourism. The advertisement has added that people coming from most countries of tourism can get visas by visiting recreational tourists in Pakistan.contact Tourist Travel agencies,can avail the visa on arrival through multiple tour operators.

The VOA is available only if you've pre-booked with a travel agency, which will have to do its homework. But this can be worked out.

This have been in place for a few years (for fewer countries), so the question is: does it work only in airports or also at land borders (i.e., Waggah, Taftan, Khunjerab).

E.g., the Chinese may not let you go up the pass if they don't see a visa in your passport, has anybody tried it ? I'd be interested in first-hand accounts.
