Pakistan visa only in your home country - it doesn't work as well
 

Hello everybody!

During last years travell in Greece and Turkey the Pak-embassies always convinced us only to apply for the Visa in our home country.
So now, while back in Germany I tried myself and with two agencies and every time got refused, even I had an invatation from a member in Lahore. As soon as you mention overland travelling and motorbike the refuse!

on the other hand I'm in touch and read about fellow travellers from Spain, Switzerland or Belgium, who just went to the embassy and everything works...:confused1:

Is here anybody German who recently got granted a Pakistan-visa?
And if yes how did you this succesfully? :helpsmilie:

Every help is appreciated, because I'm already started my schedule and planing circeling around my favourite travell-destination....:(

Applying for Visa while in your home country
 

It's a pretty standard requirement.

India, Russia, Pakistan, etc.

The only exception to the general rule is IF you have residency status in the country where you are applying.

My Russian Visa was obtained in Thailand, where I'm a legal resident, not in the country which has issued my Passport.

FWIW, I've actually had quite a bit of trouble getting Visas for employees in south Asia. It seems rather "arbitrary".

The secret is not to have mentioned overland travel, you should have said flying into and out of Lahore, nobody checks when you get there. We have the same problem in the UK whereas as Spanish chap I met in Istanbul just went to the embassy there and got one the same day with no LOI and no other questions.

Maybe a business visa?

I know. If I not mention overland travell, they require a booked flight "In & out", and a hotel reservation. Last one should be a problem to solve, but the flight?

They offered me a "business visa" would be no problem, at all. Though I doubt when such people us the words "at all". Just an invatation from a pakistani company and a letter from my German ones and eversthing should work...

Beside I've read some disturbing news about an accident in the Northern areas close to KKH ....

I don't think that was an accident and could affect everybody planning to go to Pakistan, not to mention the people there who work in the tourist industry.

I got my Pakistan Visa in Berlin in Mai 2013.
I takes less than 5 working days.
LOI from Lost Horrizon Tracks and Tours
Entering overland from India (Lahore)
Leaving from Islamabad Airport (Online Flightticket from Turkisch Airlines (free storno possible))
And all the other requested dokuments.
I was personaly in Berlin, but that was not nessesary at all. A good 600km ride on the german Autobahn :clap::funmeteryes: instead of spending 3,50Euro for mailing the documents.

Anyway, I might change my flight plans if I get my Iran Visa:mchappy: and go overland...

But I heard (over 3 cornes) that, if you have to apply at the embassy in Frankfurt??? then it is another (impossible) thing.:(

'm trying to obtain a visa for Pakistan. As an American it looks like I have to return to the states to apply in person from my country of origin.

I tried Travisa and they very nicely told me that I have to contact the consulate in Turkey (where I left the bike) to see if I can apply in person there. The consulate said no way and kept repeating "country of origin". Again Travisa is awesome and give info freely which doesn't envolve buying their service . They can get it for me but it can take up to a month. I don't really have a month.

I have an Iranian visa waiting for me but I can't enter Iran without a Pakistani visa so the Tehran consulates are out.

Basically what I'm asking is if anyone, specifically an American, has gotten around the "country of origin" clause?

yep, post your passport back to USA and get a visa company there to submit it and send it back to you.

You only have yourself to blame for being refused.

Number 1 rule of visa applications; don't give any more information than you have to. Make up the most innocent itinerary to suit - bring a flight reservation or tell them you are entering and leaving from India.

thanks for your advices and rules! I knew about it. For myself as I still was a little concerned to travell across PAK I decided to be honest about my travell schedule and see what happens and let sbdy. else decide for me this time....

But it's stil on the list in very top for the future!!! :mchappy:
