Nepal Rental
 

Hello!

We are hoping to rent a motorbike in Nepal for 2 weeks. Kathmandu or Pokhara [any advice?]

I have a full licence. I have heard that rental without a tour company is not allowed in Nepal now.

Any more information on the validity of this, and the finer details / reality of this would be very helpful.

There are lots of motorbike rental company in Thamel. You can simply google motorbike rental company in thamel. I suggest you to check reviews, company details before renting motorbike with any company.

It would be great if you rent a motorbike from thamel, since you have two weeks, you can explore various places in kathmandu like Bhaktapur, Patan durbar square, Swoyambunath, Boudhanath and then leave kathmandu. You can also travel bandipur and gorkha which is on the way to Pokhara. Pokhara is most recommended destination for travellers.

I suggest you to go with rental companies because traffic police start aruging you about the motorbike if you ride bike of someone, because rental company provide you the reciept from their company so that you wont get any problem during your ride.

And better if you carry your international driving license with you, even if you have your valid license from your country, you can ride in Nepal but some traffic police stops and make arugement of not having international driving license. But you have to convience that your license work in every parts of world. (Only few traffic police do that)
