It seems there are a number of groups developing here with slightly different crossing times.

I'm currently forming a group to depart from the MaeSot border post around April 10th taking 9-12 days to cross.

We currently have four members and are looking for more to bring the costs down. One Land Rover and two motorbikes.

Drop me a line through this forum or with a private message if you're interested in joining our wonderful adventure!

I've tried joining the google group, and tried emailing roostersoverland@gmail.com to be added - seems to still not be working!

Can someone please add me so I can join in the conversation? my email is davidmvsmith@gmail.com

I'm looking at crossing Thailand to India, late May 2015.

New group for Myanmar crossing

Hi guys

I've started a new Google Group for a slightly later crossing than Liz and her gang, who are due to leave at the end of April.

We are currently a group of 2 vehicles, 7 people in total and would welcome other travellers either in 4WDs, cars or on motorbikes.

If you email me at bensout@gmail.com

i can add you to the group and we can start building the date and tour company.

It looks like Burma Senses are coming up trumps but I do have other quotes too.

Get in touch and lets make this happen,

Ben

Woman walking Myanmar

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to Horizons Unlimited. In fact, I'm new to forums. I heard about HU while walking across the Gibb River Rd in Western Australia. A young lad who was riding his motorcycle RTW stopped to offer me water and some gatorade. He mentioned this might be a good place to connect with travelers, especially if I'm in need of advice or assistance.

I am a woman walking solo around the world. I walk mostly on donations and share 10% to an organization supporting girls and women. I don't have a big budget but in times of need I won't hesitate to spend what I have, especially if I need to pay for a permit or a guide to get across Myanmar. I am determined to cross Myanmar without having to take a bus due to Visa and transit restrictions. I have walked every step so far and hoping that Myanmar won't change that.

However, I am having two challenges in particular with Myanmar.

1. Getting a permit to cross from Thailand at Tachileik and then on to India via Tamu. I won't be going into Yangon (where the permit offices are) but rather staying North just above Mandalay so I can attempt to make it to the Tamu border before my Visa expires. I have heard that even with a permit for the Tamu border crossing- an expired Visa (even by one day) can be rejected for entrance.

2. Making it across Myanmar in 28 days. I will have to walk about 50 km (31 miles) a day. This may be grueling but with some help it can be done.

Does anyone have any connections to the right company that can help me get the permits for the border crossing if I can't make it in person?

I'm also open to paying for a guide if I absolutely have to to travel beyond Tachileik.

Or, for those of you that are riding across soon, keep an eye out, I pull an orange and black cart behind me that has a sign reading She Walks the Earth. (She Walks the Earth - Woman walks the world) I'd love to share a cup of tea ;-)

PS- I may not make it to Myanmar by April, it may be more like May-June- or July. I am currently walking north in Viet Nam on Ho Chi Minh.

Thank you!
Angela

.. GO Angela!

It's gonna be HOT and very humid - and growing wetter - in that region (inc the subcontinent) at that time of year Angela. Please prepare yourself.

'Athena' has wheels, therefore you have definitely come to the right forum to seek whatever help and support you might need going forward.

Best of luck with your endeavors. :thumbup1:

My respect

Keith

PS - Nice website you have there at: shewalkstheearth.com
(a shameless plug for you ..)
