Long term parking in Pakistan
 

As the Pakistan/India border is closed...

One option just came to my mind.
I could park the bike in Pakistan for a couple of weeks and locally arrange a bike in India.
After my trip I'd pick up the bike and return home?

Has anyone ever left the bike behind in Pakistan?
Do you see any problem?

You could ask The Motorcycle Travellers of Pakistan if you do Facebook, I think there might be a member here who is in it.

Either way you might have to get permission from Pakistan customs to leave it there as it will come in on a carnet.

As you said, it comes with a CdP, so why should I need a permission to leave the bike behind. I have already put down a deposit.
(I wouldn't even know where to ask for a "permission")

Having a CDP does not automatically give you the right to leave your motorcycle behind when you exit the country. It comes down to whether they write your bike into your passport, in my experience it is 50/50 with Pakistan. They could refuse you exit (FYI, this is bureaucracy ;)) A friend of mine however left his bike behind no problems. Welcome to Asia ;)

I believe if you have brought a bike in on a cdp it is against the rules of the cdp issuer to leave the country without the vehicle, I found this out at a HUBB meeting a few years ago when I met the chap who issued them for the RAC and happened to mention that my bike was in South Africa while I was in the UK, he was not amused.

Unless you advise them.

Yes mate, still closed and probably will be for some time. What most people dont realise is that Wagah Attari has such limited economic value that it really makes no difference to either side if they open it or not. Have a plan B.
