Iran with private vehicle is no longer allowed??

Hey guys

Does anyone have recent informations about crossing into Iran with your own vehicle? Some friends on tour in India at the moment told me that there wa a change of rules...

Enter Iran with Own Vehicle | Travel News

Can not imagine that this is true, so hopefully some of you guys just crossed into Iran and can tell otherwise...

Cheers for your informations.

I just got my Iranian visa today. Please someone tell me I didn't spent 6 weeks trying to get it for nothing..!

This seems odd though. Are they closing all international routes? And would this only be for tourists?
After doing a quick search it seems there was a similar 'rumour' last december, and I know people have been entering Iran this year already. I guess someone will have to give it another try ;)

wanderer78 20 Mar 2013 11:52

For what it's worth: I got an email from my contact at Key2Persia today, saying they have clients that entered the country in their own cars just last week. They have not heard of a ban.

nicolumbus 20 Mar 2013 17:50

cool, that are good news...

I ll check that with the iranian embassy in Switzerland. Hope they also agree that there are no issues like mentioned of that other company...

Cheers

Any more info on this? So if you turn up at the taftan border with a visa and a cdp what would happen? Anyone know?

They would let you in :-)
Don't believe too much of what you read on all this. If I would have taken into account all the warnings about Iran and Pakistan in 2006, I would have never left. It's a fantastic area of the world to visit. Have fun!

This is the right point of view! There always such rumours going on. When we entered Iran last october there was the one with the "fuel card" which was supposed to be totally necessary, what also was a false...

Just go and see, most the people are trying to help you, even with privat support! Have a nice trip and keep posting how it goes! I'm intending to enter Iran again coming from Armenia in August!

All the best! :scooter:

nicolumbus 29 Mar 2013 08:53

cool informations... thanks to all. I agree completely that Iran / Pakistan are great areas to travel... I felt very welcome and safe. The people are fantastic... thats why I wanna go back... and of course for the mountains in Pakistan... Karakoram 3rd edition :)

The Dane 30 Mar 2013 08:41

Called the Ambassy a few days ago, to ask if there where any problems, as I will pass the Iran border around the 2-4 may on bike, from the turkish side......the lady said.: If visum and Carnet is ok, you'll have no problems.... :-)

Have nice trip.. :-)

motofoto 17 Apr 2013 07:56

Iran on motorbike

Its election time in Iran, thats the problem. If you mention you are on a bike they will tell you to have a guide or you will not get the reference code and visa. Thats what they told me yesterday at the embassy in Trabzon.
Everything will be back to normal after the 22. of June.
Without vehicle no problem.

We're in Iran

Hey everybody,

we too crossed into Iran 5 days ago. No problem with a carnet, border crossing was a bit chaotic but took only one and a half hours. We also met a French family who crossed the same day with a truck.

So no worries, like us, you'll be very welcome here. But maybe avoid the weeks around the elections in June.

Oh yeah, we used the Seto border.

No authotisation code

I first applied direct to Iranian consulate Canberra Australia for a visa to Iran on the 1st of Mar 2013.
They returned my application saying I needed a sponsor to invite me to Iran.Or if I did not know anyone to go thru an agent.
Contacted Iranianvisa.com.10/3/13 Yes for E35 they would supply an "authorisation code" which I would send to the consulate with my passport to obtain visa usually in a week. OK Paid
After 2 wks nothing from iranianvisa.com. There excuse. Holidays in Iran.MFA not working from 21/3/13 to 6/4/13. New Year then Easter
They suggest I pay extra E20 for "Urgent" application.I do.
10/5/13 I can wait in Aus no longer. Bike is in Kathmandu awaiting my return to overland to Europe.Contact iranvisa.com again. Can I pick up my visa in Lahore when "authorisation" code comes. Yes, sorry unavoidable delays MFA in Iran not issuing "authorisation" Cost E40 to change place of visa pick up .If and when "authorisation" is issued.
29/5/13 I am in Kathmandu getting some work done on my bike. Still no "authorisation" code. Leave for Pakistan tomorrow will have to get Pakistan visa exten. there because of holdup.
I believe it is all to do with Iranian election but no official will say this.Hoping for "authorisation code soon after election .15/6
Any suggestions. Not China because they are APITA as well for single vehicle.
Peter

Hi Peter,

a Australian buddy had problems with iranianvisa recently, too.
At some point he gave up and used the agent below, who where efficient:
info@persianvoyages.com
www.persianvoyages.com

We ourself will wait with the Iranian visa application until the election is over.

Good info, thanks. I am likely to need an Iranian visa next year. But Chris, what passport do you travel under? See, I'm wondering if it all varies depending on your nationality.

Thanks

Keith (British)

Hi Benek,

Persian Voyages just told me, that I guide is mandatory!

please check private email

You can also try Key2Persia.com, which provided us with an authorisation code a few months ago, when Iranianvisa.com was already warning that it was no longer possible to cross into the country with our own vehicle.

Good luck
