Iran -> Pakistan

Hi there,

I would l like ask if it is currently possible to enter pakistan from iran since I heard about some safety issues in the southeast-region of iran und also pakistan?

My plan would be to enter iran via turkmenistan, heading south to lut desert and go east to pakistan border.

kind regards
Lukas

Pakistan is Safe to Travel from Iran, Pakistani Military provide security and escort on the way, you can see Michael_69's thread, he traveled to Pakistan from Iran, and you can read some good information about it :) ...

Its totally safe to enter Pakistan from Iran. If you give me your exact dates of crossing, I might be able to assist you at the border crossing. Happy Travels!

Somewhere after Bam in Iran you will get (free!) police or military escort. And also throughout Pakistan, up to Multan. This means it is safe, but also quite slow travelling.

thank you all for your replies.
Right now I dont have any date yet since I need to get my turkmenistan visa first, otherwise I will need to take KKH (Im going north to south).

Welcome to Pakistan.

It is fine here but you will have to follow the escorts when close to Afghanistan border.
Cheers

Be aware that you'll need your Uzbek and Iranian visas first before applying for the Turkmen visa.

yes, I know, but although I would have both visas there is a relatively high chance to get rejected.

Have a look at my thread- pretty comprehensive description. Be aware you will be escorted to Lahore via Multan and Sukkur which is a nause!!
Have some food for your first night in the Levies compound and have at least 20 photo copies of your visa, passport and bike details for the check points.

Message me if you like.

Look it isn't "totally safe", as others have mentioned you get an escort on the Pakistan side, which is a PITA, but it is as safe as can be under the circumstances. We crossed Pakistan to China mid 18. Whilst we were in Pakistan two Chinese school teachers were abducted from Queta and murdered. So that I think demonstrates my point. However many do pass this way and it is nearly always incident free.

Perhaps your biggest problem will be getting a Pakistan visa. We know of a number of overlanders whom were denied their Pakistan visas as soon as Pakistan immigration discovered that they were coming from Iran.

Oh, two Czech girls were also kidnapped from Queta a couple of years ago and held hostage for 2 years. They were eventually released after their government payed a ransom. So shit does happen and you do need to be aware of it. take all reasonable precautions and you should be OK. Assuming of course you get your visas.
