Hi all.
I'm trying to sort a London to Sydney route by motorbike. I've chosen the Turkey - Iran - Pakistan route and would then like to end up in China so I can skirt Myanmar to get to Laos to continue South. Can anyone recommend a route (preferably continuing to head East(ish) from Lahore) as I'm getting a bit confused as to borders etc?

Hi Geoff,
From Lahore you will cross into India and Amritsar, don't miss The Golden Temple and border closing ceremony, you don't give a time frame but I recommend at least part of India while you are there, Rajasthan is to the south and worth a visit before heading east then north into Nepal.
If you can meet up with a group heading that way with a guide you can cross into China and down to Laos from there but doing it on your own would be expensive.
The weather window for leaving London on that route is around the middle of August to the middle of September, hopefully others will be along soon with more advice.

Thanks for your advice, Mark. One of my options was from India to Nepal at the Banbasa – Bhimdatta crossing and then into Tibet at the Rasuwaghadi – Gyirong Port border crossing. Looks logical to me but I don’t know if it makes sense to the likes of you who may be more experienced in this area? (Also forgot to mention we’ll be in UK registered bikes). Thanks again!

Although there are several crossings from India into Nepal there are only three which allow foreigners to use and that is not one of them but you can just a little further east at Nepalganj.
Your entry into Tibet will depend on where the group you are travelling with enters but that one is a possibility, I have come the other way across there and it is a very scenic route.

I crossed from India to Nepal at Banbasa in 2018 on italian passport (and italian registered bike)

I stand corrected, Banbassa is the entry point for foreigners in the west and it was somewhere to the east between Nepalganj and Darjeeling where I was denied re-entry to India and sent towards Darjeeling.

Thanks to you both for your input. Do you have (or has anyone else got) experience of the onward border from Nepal to Tibet/China?

TBH I dont have much faith in China allowing overlanders in anytime soon. Personally I boycott everything chinese wherever possible but there is another option of riding Mongolia, Russia and shipping from Vladivostok. Given the extortionate cost and requirements imposed on overlanders entering china the shipping option is actually quite realistic. Anyway, just an option mate.

Unfortuntely no.
I've been at that border on the Nepal side in winter 2019.
I hope to be able to cross it in the next few years, but I don't have any first hand info and I don't want to share uncomplete information.
