Getting from India to Europe. Options needed.

Just in need of some advice. Setting off from the UK at the start of 2017 and we were going to drive round via Asia to Canada. However the shipping costs are looking to be very pricey. As an alternative we thought of heading to SE Asia from Japan/Korea then over to India. However we're not sure about how to get from there to Europe. We don't want to go through Pakistan, and being British have heard Iran (ship to Iran from Mumbai?) and China (drive from India through China to wherever) are tricky to get through? Any ideas, thoughts, advice etc are very welcome.

I asked the same question in this thread. http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...tan-iran-85507 I have got some good advice. I think there is no direct service from mumbai-iran passenger ferry. But mumbai to dubai-UAE is surly there. You need to break your Journey. Persian gulf ferries (http://www.irantravelingcenter.com/f...ian-gulf-iran/)

My question was asked as a Indian citizen. I think there are Tour operators in Pakistan who could get visa for north of pak such as karakoram highway (closed during winters) . May be you could cross waha border, head-up north and reach karakoram highway and proceed to Kashgar, Xinjiang. But driving in china is almost impossible with your own vehicle. Being Xinjiang a special place for military importance for china you will end up denied an entry.

Passing Quetta, Pakistan and proceeding to Iran is also closed now because of balochistan uprising. You might be escorted with army if needed.

So better air ship your bike to central Asian countries. From there proceed to tran siberian highways or proceed to Turkmenistan and get a caspian sea ferry and reach baku (Azerbaijan). https://en.wikivoyage.org/wiki/Ferri...he_Caspian_Sea

Hope this helps.

To ride through China is totally doable - although costly. You need guides, permits, itinararies, accomodation etc. Enter from Kazakhstan or Kyrgizstan and then through China - Laos and voila youre in southeast Asia.

You mean a Mumbai-Dubai passenger ferry route is currently operating?

Really?
