Fuel quality in Pakistan
 

Anyone know what I should expect?

Would like 95 octane stuff but not sure what there is. I am told that the situation is pretty bad.

Any info appreciated.

I am currently in Pakistan. I think its around 90 but not sure... Riding a klx250 without any problem. Moreover you can buy fuel anywhere :)

@ OP - What bike do you have?

Don´t worry! It´s not as good as home, but it will work.

We travelled up the KKH and across the country from east to west and we had no shortage of fuel.
Octan? Nobody knows for sure. Even if they might give you an answere it´s a guess at best.

Our Honda Transalps with fuel injection had no problems with the fuel over there.

93 octanes.
No problem for any bike I asume.

When are you going to Pakistan? I will try to go too, but would like to ride together with someone. Going from Iran to India!:scooter:

I plan to be in PAkistan in 3 weeks if someone wants to join, currently in Turkey at 1000km from the iranian border.

I realise this post is a bit old but in case anyone is interested:

We had no problems with fuel until we were in Balochistan. It's a bit funny really because all the fuel is apparently smuggled across the border from Iran where it is bought much more cheaply.

We were riding 2 CT110's one stock and one with a modified 140cc engine. The stock bike died in the middle of the desert for no apparent reason. Our security escort dipped his fingers in the tank and could tell by the texture of the fuel that it was a "petrol/diesel mix". The modified bike gobbled it up without problems. Fuel in these areas is often only available from a drum on the side of the road.

Probably not an issue anywhere else.

My experience after riding an F800GS across the country is that the fuel is absolutely fine. There is something called "premium fuel" at some stations which is worth going for.

Yes Baluchistan is dodgy with fuel that comes out of oil drums and there is definitely a chance of foul play there but that all clears up within a hundred miles or so from the border with Iran.

Talking about Iran one understands hat there's something suspicious going on when many fuel stations close to the border with Pakistan for some reason have no petrol to sell!.......but if you really want....really, really want, well there is some if you really, really, really want

Availability of fuel is fine in Pakistan with 90 octane available everywhere. 95 octane is available in a few gas stations mostly in big cities.
Areas close to Iranian border usually have grey market Irani petrol in drums. Try to avoid this fuel and in case it is absolutely necessary filter it carefully with fine cotton cloth.
