Everest visible from any road in Nepal?

Hi all,

Currently in Pokhara, Nepal.
Will start going towards Katmandu and was wondering if there is a road where I could get a glimpse of Everest?

Nagarkot Road.

Hi Hemuli,

We could not get there, but we were told that from Nagarkot (east of Kathmandu), you could see the Everest and other 8000m peaks and the road was also nice. From further away, I doubt you can see it at all. Anyway, confim this info, I'm just checking our map.

Apart from that, do not miss Patan and Bakhtapur in Kathmandu Valley, beautiful cities full of amazing temples, as Kathmandu downtown itself. All of this and Nagakort are very close to Kathmandu, a quick ride.

If you are in Pokhara, I imagine you have entered from Lumbini, so you rode Sidartha Highway, a beautiful ride. Consider Chitwan national park on your way East. We definitely loved the place.

Happy travels and enjoy such a wonderful country,

Esteban

Hi Esteban,

Thank you for your answer!
Just checked this Nagarkot from google and seems like it is possible to see all these peaks as you mentioned. So, this will be absolutely a "must visit" -place.

I still have 2 weeks time in Nepal before I will fly to Bangkok, so still some time left to see this gorgeous country and meet it´s friendly people! :thumbup1:

I actually entered from Mahendranagar, but yes, I rode Sidartha Highway. Lot of corners there :)

Try Sarangkot near Pokhara for views of the Anapurna circuit. Last stretch is unsealed, but very doable. We had clouds, so no chance so see anything... but then went trekking to see it closer. :D

Don't know if you are interested, but just in case, renting a backpack, sticks (strongly recommended for the many stairs) and any other gear was very cheap, and the trek is amazing. Accomodation is great, food as well. Don't need guide or porters (although it helps Nepalis), just pack light, it's very easy. Bring enough cash, no other means of payment in the mountains.

Have fun!
