The 175cc limit apparently applies to Vietnam. Lots of people have been through Malaysia & Indonesia on big bikes.

we are at present in Laos, from Thailand and also were in Indonesia, Malaysia and East Timor.......we have 2 x 600 cc bikes and no trouble at all at the border crossings. And we were allowed into Myanmar.....for a short stay only, not to cross it....at the northern border crossing from Thailand at Mae Sot in to Talichek in Myanmar.....We have Carnets for both bikes.
Happy Riding.

The thing with the Burma bit is that they let you in for up to three days to travel in the local area only. They take your passport off you and you get it back when you leave by the same border crossing......you are not allowed to travel across the country or into another area....but it is a start. And it was fun.
We are going to freight to Bangladesh to get over the 'difficult section'. did read that Thai Air now has direct flights from Chiang Mai to Chittawang(not sure of the spelling) and perhaps this would be a good way to freight from Thailand to Bangladesh. Or the reverse....
