Easily Available tire sizes

Hi All,

I have a choice of rims prior to leaving Australia. Front rims 110x90 x19, Rears 130x80x17 or fronts 90x90x21, rears 130x80x18.

I don't really want to get into the old chestnut debate of which rim size is better, rather what are the readily available tire sizes in this region based on the rims I have. Expecting to need new tires by the time I reach India and heading West.

I hope this is the correct forum. Looking forward to the advice,

regards

Baz

No way I'd bother changing rim sizes, much too much work. Whatever you have will be available somewhere - maybe not the perfect tire, but something that will work. Get something that wears well, and go.
In India you can get any size tire, not to worry.

Thanks Grant. That's one less issue.

It depends on what type of terrain he will be riding on. Being from Australia Motoz GPS lasts long and if you need more aggressive front Tractionator Adventure works well with rear GPS and you can get up to 20000km out of this combo.

The mileage is a plus for the Motoz. GPS will fit the 17" rim, tractionator the 18" for my rears. Good way to go.

Cheers

Thailand and Malaysia you will also be able to find the tyre sizes you want relatively easy. Maybe not the exact brand and model you want - but still decent tyres. Even in Indonesia I can send advise you to a shop that can source tyres for you if you notify them a week ahead.

So like Grant writes - dont worry too much about rim sizes, I really dont think that matters a lot in SEA.

Thanks for the advice. Yes, it's not the end of the world if I can't source the perfect tire. It's part of the adventure to make it work, right. There's bigger issues to overcome on these trips.

Cheers Baz
