Crate For Honda Africa Twin in Bangkok

Hi,

We are heading soon form Singapore towards Bangkok, from there we are going to ship our bike by air to Japan. We will need the crate for our bike. Any advise where to get a good deal? Has anyone air shipped the bike from Bangkok to Japan? Any recommendation for the freight forwarders?

thanks,

Kamil

re: crating bike

Hi,

Think I met you guys at the meeting in Chiang Mai back in January.

Just in the process of shipping out to Kathmandu from Bangkok.

We are using Pioneer Freight at the moment. Hope all goes smoothly. Costing for two DR650s is about 54700 baht including the crate. Weighed in at 570kg actual. Greater than the volumetric kgs. Has progressed relatively smoothly and seem to know their stuff.

We got it made up near the office at a roadside crating area but then ended up resizing it. Pioneer supplied a hammer, nails and saw and did it at their warehouse near the airport. They have guys importing Harleys from Hong Kong so probably can hook you up to Japan ok.

Mike just flew into Bangkok this week with his AT in a crate. I've e-mailed him to ask what he did with it. There's a small chance you might be lucky.
Regards,
Stephan

OK, good news and bad news...
For those flying into Bangkok "everything worked out just great. I [Mike] was on the road 6 hours after landing."

"crate, however has been probably scrapped as I had no idea where and how to keep it."
