when we came in from vietnam the khmers didnt want anything. We wanted a stamp in our carnets but they couldnt be arsed! Eventually got one but couldnt get it stamped out as the border guard had gone to a party in Phnom Penh and taken the stamp with him.........
Thailand they have a seperate system to carnets where they give you a temporary import license at the border. Should be OK, doubt its different shipping in rather than riding over a border, but dont quote me on it.

I flew to BKK from Delhi without a carnet, they give you a permit for 30 days, and the paper work takes just few hours. But be aware if you miss the 30 days then you will have to pay 3 times the value of the bike.
I got my carnet renewed in the mean time i was in Thailand so when i crossed into Cambodia i had a carnet so i dont know how the Khmer would handle things with no carnet.
You will not be allowed to drive your bike in Ankor Wat and all the other temples there, but just in Siem Riep ...
Cambodia is beautiful, enjoy it brother .

According to the AIT http://www.aitgva.ch/AIT_Site/Public..._countries.htm the carnet is not used in Thailand, Laos and Cambodia.

...but both countries will likely ask to see the Carnet if you enter with a non-asian licenced bike - Thailand for noting the vehicle details and to determine the value of the bike (you'll have to sign a document where you agree to pay a given amount of Bath if you fail to re-export the vehichle within a month), and Cambodia because entering with the Carnet is an option.
If so, don't worry, and hand over the vehicle registration document instead.
