Why not do Vietnam first and save yourself a lot of hassles? No storage, no to-ing and fro-ing...

Apply for your India visa shortly before leaving for India: you must leave within x months from the date of issue, not entry! Plus, it's non-extendable. Happened to me.

No ferries to India or Sri Lanka.

Where is Bang?

How do you plan to get to Mongolia? Through China? You are about to open another Pandora's Box altogether.

Bhutan is easy, pay 200$/day.

Good advice again Peter....

Viet first makes a lot of sense, except that I figured if I find a good bike at a good price I'd just buy it straight away (Cambodia maybe). I screwed around for 3 weeks in Mexico City then had to miss Mexico all together when a bike fell through. Hence if I don't find a bike I'll put a "request" in and do Viet first. Other reason is that I wanna try and rock up to a shiite border to Viet and see if I can con my way into, having a good bike in there. Doubtful, I know, but I am so over doing these trips on shiite bikes... (like a Bonus 125, dunno if you know of em but I spent 9 weeks on one last time I did Vietnam).

I'm tossing up getting some"dodgy" paperwork in Cambodia if I end up with a bike that could pass as a 200cc and rip all the stickers off. Worth a shot if nuthin else... although its another highly unlikely scenario might work with something like a DR400, pushing it but possible with a XR650, it'd be dream on a KTMer... aaaah, wold love to do the jungle on a good crosser :offtopic:!

I've been tossing up doing the trip backwards (from the down-under East of Asia view..lol), but I was planning on completing Vietnam (9 weeks wasn't enough and missed the Delat and South west), then deciding in INdia whether I wanna continue through teh middle East and Eastern Europe. (Who knows... this trip mayyyyy end up in CapeTown, :funmeteryes: lol)

Anyway, that's the long winded, twisted, non-sensical reasons that I have such a shonky Pseudo plan that makes so little sense! Apart from which... if nothing alse it'll give you veterns something to chuckle at.

iTs none of my business

Cpt Barbarossa 8 Jan 2008 17:21

...that would be so rude of me...

Course its your business Os... how rude would I be if I aksed a question and then said MYOB!!!

Lol, problem probably is that my grasping of the language English is leaves to be desired very much... jejeje.... or my plan is worse than my ability to express myself (far more likely).

Here it is nin basics.... Bedd made a great point about doing Viet first, the reason i ma looking at not following that wise advice is:

a) I have been to Vietnam twice and am excited about seeing Laos and Cambodia first cos I haven't been there;

b)If there is a good bike for sale in Cambodia, I will buy it as a priority AND THEN want to ride it for the first 3 months (new toy syndrome), so Viet is out of teh question for that reason... HOWEVER...

IF: A bike is not available in Cambodia when I get there, then I will follow Beddhists wise advice and do Vietnam first.

Phew..... basically, the only plan I can guarantee is.... I'm gonna ride somewhere in Asia, sometime in the nxt two weeks until I get locked up, thrown out or buried over there. :funmeteryes:

The link shown in the quote is from a travel company who do touring in Vietnam, among other places:-

Saffron Road Motorcycle Tours - Vietnam

This bit of their webpage is very open and honest about how they get their hire bikes including some information about owning bikes in that country - worth a read.

Go to Lucky Lucky in PP Cambodia, as he has the best bikes all stolen from Japan, either google it or search these forums for the address.

He will also supply you with any paperwork you might need, to get the bike in and out of the country.

Gotcha Judda..

Maybe though, mate, it might not be the best thing to make Lucky's source of cheap Motos too public, the officials might kill the golden goose.... I can assure you, based on ur advice he is my first stop after the Minimeet.
Thnaks dude

OS... Feb for BKK will be difficult, although you seem like a fella I'd love to ctach up with for a beer. I won't have a bike until I get to Cambodia, back to BKK when I've finished Laos, Cam and Viet, so Feb would be a battle. More likely I'll catch ya in KL later on.

Curiosity... how do ya make a living riding? That would be nirvana

Osama Radzi 11 Jan 2008 02:34

its ok, no rush...

Maybe im not riding to BKK. Probably 4WD or Train/Bus...
Yeah, meet u KL would be nice, maybe go camping or something....

as the question : Ride & Get Paid!
cant reveal it here in the open, It wont be a mystery anymore:mchappy:
