Anyone going to Pakistan from Iran this month or next?

Well, that's it.

Is any body going to pakistan??

Could we go together to Quetta?

Bergrider 23 Jul 2010 13:21

Lahore to Quetta

Hi Mate,

I'm leaving Lahore tomorrow and hope to be in Quetta in 4-5 days, heading East to West.

I've heard the Sibi area has had monsoonal flooding so this would ofcourse dampen this a bit, otherwise some time next week should be good.

Ping a PM if you're about.

Cheers.
Frank.

Hi Bergrider,

I'm not going to Sibi, I planned go north to karakorum Higway.
Maybe we could meet to share information.

Thank you anyway

A friend and his wife from the Manali-Leh leg has just arrived in Islamabad, so maybe keep an eye on his website www.journey2dakar.com for posts / info for the run North.

Cheers.
Frank.

Hi Pepe,
Henk Vlasma and friend from Holland and Donato (Dnicolleti, another Hubber) are on their way around same time. All of them are planning to visit the KKH and the accidental lake. You can get in touch with them.

You can always contact me and Pakistan Bikers Club for information or help of any kind. If you call us in advance we may be able to arrange a lil get together with the members over a cup of tea in Lahore.

BTW A PBC group is scheduled in Deosai plains on around Nanga Parbat trip in early August. Ramzan starts on 11th when daytime availability of food becomes restricted.

Hi Omie!

How could I contact Henk and Donato??

For sure we will have that tea in Lahore, I'll let you know when I'm there.

Thanks

Donato's identity on the HUBB is dnicolletti and can be contacted here. The bad news is that his visa for Pakistan was refused yesterday so he would be skipping Pakistan.

I think Hendrick Vlasma is also a HUBBER but let me check.

Trans Pakistan - still fast escorts?

Hi Omie or anyone.

Am I right in thinking that when you arrive in Pakistan from say Iran, you get saddled with an escort shooting your through to India asap.

That was the case with a guy I met in ISB in 2008, and security has got a lot worse since then. Last year overlanding mates where getting escorted through.

But I get a feeling that if you slip off up the KKH (or come down KKH from China) less escorting - floods and lakes permitting, of course.

thanks

Police escorts from Balochistan till Multan or Lahore. In Lahore and north towards Islamabad or KKH you'l be on your own.
Cheers

Thanks Omie.
Can I also ask about the price of diesel and petrol in Pakistan these days?

Chris S

Omie 11 Aug 2010 17:56

As of today Petrol is Rs. 69/ltr and Diesel Rs. 74/ltr. Pak Rs. 85 equal 1 US$. These fuel prices are revised on the first of each month.

Interesting thread guys. We are hoping to pass through Pakistan in about 3 months time and we are keeping an eye on things so good to hear it looks possible (at the moment).

motos across the new lake on boats?

While I'm interrupting, can I also ask if it's assumed that motos coming or going to China can get past the new lake at Attabad in the boats?

From the pix I've seen of them, they certainly look big enough to take a 600 easily.

Chris

PS. Actually I think the answer is yes if the picture here is anything to go by:
