RTW in a campervan
Hi all
Just joined up but have been using the forums for a while now to research our upcoming trip, so thought I'd say hello and introduce ourselves... not entirely sure if this is the place to do so - apologies if it isn't! We are Brian and Cristina, currently waiting for our self-converted campervan to reach Durban (from the UK) and aiming to drive around Africa for 6 months to see, well, whatever we see, before heading across to India and from there SE Asia and South America, time / funds permitting... The journey starts in earnest in about 3 weeks when we fly out to meet our van and use our shiny new carnet document for the first time. With any luck, the van will arrive in one piece and its contents will still be there {fingers crossed}. We have a blog, but there isn't much on there other than the conversion process etc, but we'll try and update it as often as possible and will dip and out of the forums on here whenever possible. Keen to meet up with other people going in vaguely the same direction as us! Cheers Brian & Cris Around the World in a Campervan |
Hi Brian and Cris,
Firstly a warm welcome to the HUBB, I took a look on your blog, good home conversion on the LT35. I've overlanded on Motorbikes, Land Rovers and heavy trucks, you have made a good decision with the LT, probably the best vehicles for room, economy with a good engine. If no one gets back to you on here re being on the same route, do not worry, there are lots of people overlanding out there and doing RTW or trans Africa , you will meet up with people on route on bikes, 4x4, trucks and vans. If you wish to travel with motorcyclists for a while, offer to carry extra fuel for them or some of their luggage on tougher pistes (sand is hard to ride on a loaded bike). Looks like a great trip! |
Thanks Gipper :)
Yeah, sand and motorbikes, doesn't look like a marriage made in heaven really! |
