Ireland to India starting October

Hi All, I have been looking at this website for many years and have just joined up with something to say and questions to be asked.

I have today paid for my Carnet de Passage for my CB500X which I bought especially for this trip.

So now I need to get visas and insurance for the trip which is basically Europe to Turkey, Iran, Pakistan and India

I aim to take two months to get to Delhi, then two months in India then turn around and come back by probably the same route.

So travel out October and November, then Back mid February to Mid April.

Any info gladly received. Cheers, Rowsi aka Richie

Hi Richie and welcome to the forum,
Should be a great trip and good choice of bike, the only thing I would say is if you can depart a little sooner, mid September perhaps then do it, the weather can get a bit chilly in Turkey and Iran by October although the trip is perfectly doable then.

Hi Mark, Indeed, I was looking at that. I would aim to be in Turkey as quick as possible to enable me to be in Pakistan by mid November. But I might be able to leave a week earlier, before that I have work and of course money commitments. Money for the trip....

The bike is brilliant, the last bike I had was a Varadero 1000, and TBH the CB500x is almost as good.... a lot lighter and extremely frugal. It has a few handy mods, but I will be getting some Mitas E07 tyres a DID chain and sprockets before I leave.

Oh, the advantages of an Irish passport. I wonder if I can find an Irish ancestor in my family tree...

You may be interested in your fellow countryman's experiences in riding to Iran.

Simon still has the BMW R1150GS in his stable of bikes.
