I found You

New guy here my name is Jerry and i live in Mesa,AZ. I've been on MC since I was 10 that would be 46 years now. I have not traveled outside of the US and not many long distant trips. Looking forword to reading more here. I have a HD Softtail now but renting a BMW R1200GS in a month to see how my wife and I like it before going full tilt into the adventure riding.

Welcome Raven, welcome to the hubb !!!

Before you rush out and buy that 1200GS, have a look around at other options. The BMW marketing machine is strong but don't forget there are plenty of choices (Usually A LOT cheaper , reliable and less complicated)..

Either way, have fun :smartass:

As Ted said there heaps of options in the adventure touring world and most of them are better value for money when compared to BMW. I personally would not buy a beemer but that's because I am cheap. I would recommend something Japanese...

Welcome!

If you like the BMW and don't worry about some people talking sh*t about your bike then buy it!
Personally I have never tested a bike better suited for two-up then the R1200GS.

Hi Raven, I've got family in Mesa! I stayed with them in 2008 and hired a DR650 from AZride in Scotsdale. If you're not hiring from them check them out. They're a nice couple running the place and they've got 1200GS's and also some BMW LT's. Personally I love the DR650 and you could buy 2 of them for the price of a GS. Does the wife ride? Maybe it's time she learned! You've got some great trails out there it would be a shame not to explore them.

Now I'm dreaming of the desert I'm chilled out, thanks.
