Hey, I´m new and need help- Australia to Germany
 

Hello, I´m new here at HU.
I´m Marcel from Germany. I´ve got a BMW F650 Gs Dakar with 90.000km and it´s still running very well. I love to travel with it but my travel experiece is just in Europe.
I´m currently in New Zealand and go to Australia in a few months. I´m here for working Holiday and I enjoy it very well.

But the reason why I´m here at HU is, my Dad said to me, just for fun, he´s send my Bike to Australia and I drive it back home and this thought doesn´t leave my head.
But travelling in Europe is easy and this is way diffrent. I have not really a idea how to do that.
Is anyone here who is drive by bike from Australia to Europe?
Which route would be the best?

I hope anyone can help me.

Take a look through the ride reports and Southeast Asia, West and South and Northern and Central Asia sections to get an idea of what is possible and when as travel is seasonal, there is also a route planning section.
Look through the trip paperwork to find out about the carnet de passage that you will need from the ADAC for the bike and an international driving permit for yourself, there is also information about getting bike insurance and visas needed along the way for each country. The shipping your vehicle section might have something useful for your dad to get the bike to you.
Your bike should be fine as long as it is in good condition, even in standard condition they are perfectly capable of making this trip.

This sounds like an opportunity you shouldn't miss.

If you are not majorly restricted on time (below 6 months) I would personally recommend not planning too much (especially route-wise).
Agreed, necessary papers for specific crossings is important and can save some hassle. But the trip is doable without too much info on good roads. Your bike is well made for that (more than my '93 F650, not GS, not Dakar).
Most importantly, you shouldn't miss too many of the places on the way you've always dreamt of visiting.

Done this trip many years ago, but the other way round, things have changed for sure, but not the basics and I believe it is still doable and will be unforgettable.
