Hello from Switzerland!

Hello everybody!

I'm Florian, 25 years old, 6 years of motorcycle riding and I come from the french part of the Switzerland :smile3:

I love to travel 2up with my bike and my girlfriend. We like riding, especially dirt roads (forbidden in our country ) and camping with my actual 2013 F700GS (here's a picture of it as it looks like actually). Nice bike, not too much power but enough for what we do.

We are planning two weeks in Slovenia this summer and we need some information, that's why I registered myself to this forum. I think I found here a nice place!

By the way, feel free to contact me if you have any questions about Switzerland!

Florian

F700gs

Hello Florian

I've got an F700 GS too and I think it is a great bike. I notice you've made some alterations to yours. It looks rather good ! :wave:I live in Belgium and in the North of Italy and commute from time to time with the bike. The low centre of gravity is just fantastic for the small roads around Lago Maggiore, Val d'Aosta or the Dolomites. BMW salesman wanted to sell me a 1200 GS 2 years ago (only € 8000 more than what I paid) and said I would regret not going for the big one. I haven't had one moment of regret yet ! I intend to ride New Zealand early 2017 and thinking of renting a similar bike over there...

Slovenia should be good fun. Enjoy the ride !
cheers !

Hello Switzerland

Florian,

Welcome to the HUBB. We visited your country 2011 during our ride Spain to Turkey and back - just so happens my brother is in Zurich right now visiting his resident daughter and son and law.

Our 2 G650-GS are in Spain, we are currently in
Mexico (KLR650s) , but live in Argentina (Honda NX400s) and Arizona with bikes on three continents.

As an aside, what is going on with Swiss Bank UBS and Belgium? If you happen to be in that loop and know anything that is not appearing in the international press could you PM me. Story broke internationally yesterday.

No worries - We plan to ride to Zurich this fall. Visit us in Argentina - we will be there December 2016.

UBS

Hello xfiltrate & Rosa

the top man of UBS in Belgium was already charged in 2014 with all sorts of criminal activities (money laundering, tax evasion, being member of a criminal organisation, trying to persuade rich Belgians to put their money on his Swiss bank's accounts - is that a crime ?)
Now apparently the bank has been charged as well. So nothing spectacular - it was to be expected.
Investigations are on-going but I don't think Belgium has a history of jailing financial criminals - not that I can remember

enjoy Mexico !

Banksters?

In general, Belgium, the United States and many other countries give the banksters a pass, just for being banksters I guess?

Iceland does not!

Endeavour II - Thanks for sharing your knowledge of the shipping industry, quite informative.

I tried the 12 (old air cooled engine, the best!) before buying the 700 and if I wasn't riding offroad when I can, I would bought it. But it was too heavy 2up with luggage and passenger for me. But what a nice bike on road! Curious about the new AT but the next one in 1-2 years could be a russian side, who knows (for sure I'll improve my mechanic skills)...
