Hello from Florida
I have been riding for about 35 years. I am looking into touring in Europe next year. so I am reading about Shipping vs air, buying one there vs shipping one over. I am looking at touring for about 3 months. I have read some here where one person buys bikes has the bikes registered in your name using his address. but that post was from 2009 is that still a service? somewhere? anywhere in Europe. Right now, I am reading about having a bike from the US shipped over and then maybe selling it at the end of the tour vs bringing it back. Just looking for advice from more experienced riders.

Knopftours
Knopftours@aol.com. Stephen and Chris
They are the guys! ] They arrange everything and are convenient located in Heildburg, Germany. Buying a EU moto can be a hassle with getting insurance. It's best to either ship your own or buy US plated moto. They act as broker since they have US riders that are selling US plated motos. They key to buying a US plated moto is where it will be registered. The state must not require a physical inspection, some states as AZ doesn't so it's easy. I shipped mine from LA, Knopftours@aol.com arranged a container and all I had to do was pick it up in Heildburg. I ran EU for 3 years, then down to Africa and now back in Turkey to eventually return to Knopftours@aol.com and then decide if it's worth it to ship it back to US. Others have airfreight overTo EU, which might be cheaper but for convenient and less hassle, I decided to use Knopftours It's worked extremely well, since he can arrange your pick up from Frankfurt and has rooms available so you can plan and arrange your rides. Always well traveled and internationally riders can make your adventure fun Smiles Jeff |
welcome Jeff
to the nut house! and there are plenty ;)
Maybe the idea could be to contact Dooby (username on here but you need about 8 posts before your mailbox opens) Dooby tells me that NON-EU citizens can use his 'sell and buy back service back service options so there may be solution for you there. His website Lobagola MotoTours | expedition tours, rally training, rally support, rentals, motorcycle sale and buy back and check all the PDF files He rents bikes, does sell and buy back etc AND arranges insurance (even if you bring your US moto to Europe) which you may well find tricky to find over here. No connection aside from reading that he has helped quite a few hubbers in the past and to save you searching time. |
I am not the op
I am not the op on this thread!
I just responded with my information. I don't recommend a buy back, but that's me. Another option is Wheatwacker in Ireland, who also has US plated motos . Smiles Jeff I |

Buy back is just not my preference. I have heard good reviews and bad. Plenty of excellent options, do your diligence. What works for me might not work for you. BTW Stephen is now shipping out of Florida, check his shipping schedule. I will bet once you figure it out, you will want to return to EU Smiles Jeff |
