Hi, I'm a newbie to the forum... but noticed that you need to 'Opt in' to threads for notification... for replies etc.. same for Private Messages It would be much better if it was set to 'Opt Out' .... so that replies were not missed etc.

I understand the case for both options but its better to have opt out than for threads to be left unanswered due to not being notified...

And now someone will tell me that it is opt out and I am dreaming?

We've been opt-in since 1998, so it's pretty hard to change now - and you're the first person ever to make that suggestion! :)

We have never believed in signing you up for ANYTHING you don't specifically ask for. Over the last 5 years or so the standard of the industry has become opt-in for everything, so we will continue. You can set your PM's to receive easily, and once you've done so, that's it, and for threads it's an option as you post as well as an overall setting in your control panel Edit Options section, so you have lots of options.
