Recent Topics

I only look in here (HUBB) once or twice a day. Until recently, as I'm neither travelling or planning a trip I just looked at the Bar, Travellers question that don't.... and the Which Bike forums and perhaps anything else I say whilst scrolling down the index. Now I use the new post search and first off I'm surprised by how many postings there are in other forums but also find it much easier to see if there are new posts in the topics that I'm following.

It would be even better if we could have a 'Recent Topics' forum that I could put in my favorites and just open it with all the other tabs for the other boards I scan

Interesting thought! - what would a favourites / recent topics forum look like?

Do you want to create it yourself, with your favourite FORUMS or POSTS?

Or am I missing something?

In the meantime, try bookmarking this link:

Code:

http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hubb/search.php?do=getdaily&days=1
That's limited to a maximum of 64 posts, so you won't get a full day, but it does get the recent posts instantly for you.

You can also change it to hours=x

or search.php?do=getnewif you wish.

Note that you can't actually bookmark it - it redirects to a new results page instantly, so you'll have to bookmark that result, then edit the bookmark with the above code.

Hope that helps!

Grant, do you really mean posts, or those annoying votes in polls?
I stopped looking at anything with a pol because nine time out of ten there is no new post, just the fact someone else voted, and that usually don't interest me.

I simply do not care how many prefer one bike or another, but do like to read peoples responses.

Yes posts, not polls. Votes count as a "new post" to a thread though. Can't be helped.

I always just jump straight to the "posts in the last 24 hours" page.

The hubb is just too big (aka successful) for me to go through all the topics now.

It is a shame that I can't look at all the posts in date order for maybe three days or more because a lot of posts get missed..

Ted, is this what you're looking for:

{http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hubb/search.php?do=getdaily&days=3}

But don't bookmark what you reach, because the search result generated by this URL is a once-only. (I think that's right)

If you want to make a bookmark you have to do it manually by whatever means your browser provides, using the URL above.

Copy and paste what's between the curly brackets. I had to use those because I found just pasting the URL in the post causes it to get modified once the post is saved.

Hope it works.
I find it handy, like you say.

Yup.. That seems to do the trick.. Cheers mate. :thumbup1:

That TOTALLY needs to be a permanent hyprelink on the Hubb homepage.. (eh Grant ???? ;) )

Grant Johnson 14 Feb 2012 20:35

uhhhh... it is. Most of the time:

Click "New Posts" when logged in and you'll see options from "Last 15 minutes" ranging to "28 days".

Note that if you're NOT logged in you'll only see "Today's Posts" so if you're only lurking there is serious incentive to register and log in!

(Note that it's not on all the time for everyone because it uses more processor power to generate the options list)
