Shipping from EU to Australia

Does anyone know where I could get information on shipping a 4x4 from the EU to Australia? (Or which forum I should post this on?)

I'm specifically looking for info on companies AND the quarantine regulations etc.

Thanks!

Start here https://infrastructure.gov.au/vehicles/imports/
Quarantine rules = clean as if the vehicle was new.
Left hand drive vehicles less than 30 years old are not allowed unless on a customs carnet and are exported at the expiry of the carnet or visa of the owner.
Permanent imports attract custom duties and taxes of about 25% of the declared value and shipping costs.
Most right hand drive vehicles ex the UK or Ireland will comply.

And Quarantine
Decontamination of motor vehicles and motorcycles

Important exterior points to check:

wheels, wheel guards, mud guards
engine bay—remove water from any reservoirs (excluding radiator) and ensure your radiator is clean and free of debris in the cooling fins
underside
behind the fairings and side-covers
above and around the fuel tank
inside chassis rails
external vents
around window seals
sticky protective wheel and bonnet covers on new vehicles.

Important internal points to check:

boot area including spare tyre and wheel well
internal compartments of motorcycles, such as under seat storage
engine bay—remove water from the windshield reservoir and ensure the grille and radiator cooling fins are clean and free of debris
internal storage compartments including console
under seats and mats
in seat folds
internal vents
internal window, door seals and around door locks.

They will look at the air cleaner, air inlets to the cabin, under the spare tyre... if they find something (any dirt, seeds or bugs) you may be required to have the vehicle cleaned .. by a specialist firm $$$. After it is cleaned it will be reinspected ...if it fails again it goes back for more cleaning.

left hand drive

I shipped twice my landrover from Europe to Australia, 1e to Fremantle 2e to Sydney.
I used twice a 20 ft container and once Wallenius Wilhelmsen RoRo .
Ro ro has an advantage of easy shipping. I did from Bremerhafen but you can find all you need on their webside included a quote.
Remember that it is not easy to get an insurance for a left hand drive. When your car is inspected for roadworthy one has to pay roadtax and that includes an insurance human damages but car damage is a different story.
Further one needs a sticker "caution left hand drive"
I used Wallenius for shipping my motorbike to Australia (Brisbane)and twice to Canada. A good company.
When you ship your car apply just before delivery a lot of underbody tar, the stuff one can buy in spraycannisters. When the Quarantaine officer feels under the car for dirt he/she gets black hands. That helps indeed for a quick test.
Good luck

You can ship in container from most places , if you dont have carnet you can pay a deposit in Australia of the liability if you fail to export in time, when you export you get it back . Re Quarantine cleaning , it quite often works out that no matter how much you clean they ask you to get it cleaned by Aussie cleaning company , and get a signed release from them . $300 for my landie . The roadworthy may require certain items changed to Aussie spec. eg LHD headlamps . The standard of inspection can vary . Be careful on any declarations you have to sign they are very pedantic. It is also not a good idea to challenge them much on things , Aussie officials don't handle it well !
I hope the vehicle has good aircon , as you will need it :)
