where to put tools while shipping
 

I had shipped my bike in ASIA and Africa and had some tools missing from time to time , are you guys leaving your tools on bike or do you put them in your luggage . Just interested in different opinion .

Anything valuable I have goes in my hand luggage or checked on luggage.

Since I use an ortlieb in a pacsafe, I fill that with expensive gear that I cant bring on the plane as checked baggage !

I just recently placed my tools in my pannier, which was then locked and the entire bike was shrink wrapped and the customs seal placed around the shrink wrap. Keeping my fingers crossed that everything that I left with the bike i.e. riding jacket, pants and helmet (cable locked to bike) is still there when I pick the bikes up on Monday.

I put tools in my (locked) panniers. This is so obvious that I don't know whether I'm missing the OP's point. In fact I put everything in my panniers, except a few things which don't fit: helmet, tires, etc. These get cable-locked to the bike. I've never used cling wrap, but it makes sense if you're worried.
