Sth Africa to SE Asia by air - advice?
 

Hi everyone,
Have just poked through this section as far back as March '08 and have only found one post covering getting bikes from South Africa to SE Asia:

Does anyone have any advice? :helpsmilie:Is it better to deal directly with an airline, or should we be talking to freight companies instead? We would prefer to leave from Cape Town but elsewhere in SA is OK. We don't want to fly into Bangkok, preferring Singapore or Kuala Lumpur (don't mind which). We are not interested in going by boat and we have a carnet.

Don't take your bike into Singapore, it's a logistical nightmare.

We flew our bikes from KL to Auckland with MasKargo and they were very good to deal with. I doubt they have an office in SA themselves, but I would start by finding out who their agent is there. We didn't need a crate, the bikes went on a pallet.
