From Vlad south

b,

Have a look into the Dong Chun ferry that connects Russia with South Korea. It is like more easy to get south from Seoul that way.

I will look up some references for you. We intend to be going north using that ferry next year on our way to Vlad.

Cheers

Be aware that Vietnam is closed to all foreign vehicles, at least the land crossings are. You may not get your bike out of customs if you ship there.

Hello,
also want to ship our 4x4 from vladivostok to vietnam. Any experiences? Did you get yours to vietnam? If yes, with whom? It is pretty hard to get some information on the internet. Would appretiate a reply.
Thanx for reply

Trying to ship into Vietnam is probably a bad idea. Big trouble to enter even through land borders.

By sea, I would ship to Port Klang in Malaysia. That´s the port, that seems to get the best reports in that area. BKK seaport was dodgy, but my info is a bit old, don´t know if it´s still the same. Singapore is also unnecessarily complicated with its entry regulations.

Roads are good, and distances aren´t huge, so just might save you a big headache to choose your entry point to SE Asia carefully. Even if it means your route will then make a circle around these countries.

But I´m not certain that I´d send by sea, as I´d also get quotes by air and then decide... (oh, I see that you have a car, well then maybe by sea is your best bet!)

Again Yuri in Vladivostok is the man who will have the answers , he can help with shipping or just the customs formalities. As far as i am aware there are no frieght flights out of Vladivostok.
The ferry is very small so if you intend to go to Korea on the ferry make sure you book in advance , this year while we were there it was fully booked for a whole month !

The other thing you should be aware of is that Vladivostok is hosting the Pan Asian conference next year and any accomodation will be at a premium, i think it has been moved to late next year but i would check on that if i was you .
