Shipping from S America to Africa w/out Carnet

Hey everyone,

I’m looking for advice on where to ship or fly my bike from South America to get to Africa. Originally I was going to go from Buenos Aires to Cape Town but I’ve heard that shipping/flying from BA is unnecessarily expensive.

My major hurtle is that I’m trying to avoid getting a Carnet de Passage and from what I gather I will definitely need one if I ship/fly my bike into South Africa.

Does anyone have advice or experience with shipping/flying their bikes from South Anerixa to Africa without a carnet?

All advice is welcome!

Thanks

This is my exact question in a nut shell.
Did you find any info elsewhere?
Cheers, Kix

Hey! Bumping this thread - would also love to know the best way to ship my stuff from South America to Cape Town. From what I currently know there is no way to do it without a carnet :(

Your better option is to ship to Namibia (Walvis Bay). In Africa you are all good on the West coast riding up to Morocco. You don't necessarily need a carnet for that route, on the East coast you only need it for Egypt. Other option is to go from Sudan to Saudi Arabia, this route is possible without a carnet (only for men riders).
