Shipping NZ to Chile / Peru (and back)
 

Hi guys!

There are a couple of threads on here from a few years back, but I'm looking for some updated information, and hopefully a few extra bits of advice from anyone that has experience traveling Latin America on a foreign motorbike. (Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru)

Here are some questions I have:

1. By Air or Sea? (Auckland to Valparaiso/Santiago or Lima) - and back

2. Send to Chile or Peru? I guess the plan is to start at one and end at the other. Would there be any issues going into one and out of the other?

3. What is a Carnet? and does it make a difference? How do I get one?

4. Estimated Cost? Estimated time doing paperwork at either end?

5. Any issues going over the borders? (Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru)

6. Any other advice? Licences, insurance, registration/paperwork etc?

Carnet is not needed for S.America, however a group of kiwis I think got caught out with this in Peru, I think..
