Shipping en route UK to Aus
 

Hi

Planning a trip overland from the UK to Aus and would appreciate any help at all on shipping the bikes across the wet and tricky bits.

A few people on this site have mentioned flying bikes from Nepal to Thailand but I wonder if this will be OK for two heavy, fully laden R80GSs.

By sea from Singapore to Sydney also is discussed in various places, but ideally we would ship/fly to Darwin before riding down to Sydney. Is this possible and does anyone have any useful suggestions?

There's a fair bit of info. available on shipping from Sydney to the UK, so getting the bikes home shouldn't be a problem.

Although individual experiences seem to vary wildly, any recommendations for shipping agents also much appreciated.

We are doing the reverse with 2 ( fully laden) Honda shadow 600's. At present in the north of thailand. We will work on air freight to katmandu from bangkok very soon as almost finished in this area. were going to ship to India but too many horror stories. Told the air freight to nepal the way to go. Bit concerned about cost but cheap isnt cheap if there are no bikes at the end. Will have more info to pass on as we do it and will send a report into the shipping your bike section when we have the info or have actually done it. We shipped from Darwin to Singapore. Wonderful guy, name is Jeff Lock at Perkins Trading in Darwin. Phone 08 89822012. Has email and fax but dont have it with me. They shipall over that bottom part of asia. Takes 6 days sing Darwin. All pretty easy if you have carnet. Riding in Australia is like you have died and gone to heaven.
