Shipping a bike - to Kathmandu from Istanbul or Iran
 

I'm looking to travel overland from the UK to India mid April to July 2015. Currently in discussions with visa authorities for Pakistan and Iran... because these are slow I'm beginning to think more about Plan B, C and D which could be:

• Shipping bike from Iran to Nepal
• Shipping bike from Istanbul to Nepal
• Shipping bike from Europe to Nepal

To be honest, the Stans doesn't appeal to me. If I can't travel through Iran and Pakistan I'd rather fly and spend more tim in the Himalayas.

I've searched the Shipping section and cannot find what I'm looking for (there is one example of Kathmandu to Istanbul).

Can anyone make recommendations for shipping companies (by air, obviously) from Iran, Turkey or Southern Europe to Nepal?

Dave - Turkish Cargo can carry your bike from Istanbul to Kathmandu (IST > KTM). Daily flights.

It shouldn't be difficult to find an experienced shipping agent in Istanbul to organise everything for you (e.g. crating, issuing a Dangerous Goods Certificate, etc).

If you need help with any of this, then Istanbul-based respected HUBBer Mehmet Zeki Avar will be your friend. :thumbup1:

Dave if u do use the turkish cargo to Nepal kindly share the cost involved.

A lot has happened since I started the thread and asked for help. Accident in Turkey has ended the planned trip. So, it looks like I'll be shipping a crashed bike back to the UK, not onwards to Nepal.

Fully agree with Keith above, Mehmet Zeki Avar has been great.

I have kept an interest in your trip; particularly how you were going to negotiate your entry into and travel in-and-around Iran (as a Brit.)
