Shipping or Airfreight UK to Mexico (Monterrey)
 

Hi I'm trying to get some information on Shipping a 2004 Triumph Bonneville from the UK to Mexico. I've already read the information on the left and can only find one person who shipped to Mexico via Vera Cruz 4 years ago. I'm in Monterrey about 2 hours from McAllen Texas so my options are these:
1)Direct to Monterrey via Air
2)Ship to the port of Tampico about 6 hours drive away
3) I guess flying or shipping to Texas is also an option if it is a lot cheaper. However, I'm sure it's going to complicate things if I have to pass through US customs and Mexican customs. I am originally from the UK but have been in Monterrey for 7 years so I will be looking to do a permanent import not the usual temporary one. Has anyone flown or shipped a bike to Mexico if so can you send me details. I prefer airfreight, but cost is an issue. Thanks

I don't have a shipper but I have run across some info that may help, if you already have this info no harm done

As for shipping through the US there are 2 choices, if you ship by sea you can possibly ship to a Trade Free Zone and reship to Mexico without going through US Customs since you legally are not on US soil

If you air freight to US you will need to do a Temporary Importation and there 'may be' an accompanying bond in order to get the bike to the Mexican Border.

Hi, I used Geodis shipping to send my bike to Veracruz in Mexico, from the start they were very helpfull Pauline Howard there rep gave me tips on how to crate my bike and how to save space and weight. I delivered my bike to there yard at west thurrock. I was given a time of shipping and an approximate date of arrival and the name and all the relevent details of the shipping agent in Mexico,this was

After 3 phone calls they were able to tell me who was the customs agent in Veracruz, they spoke good english and asked if I needed help to ship out just to give them a call.
The customs agent in Veracruz was

This guy also spoke good english, after a few days of delays due to storms in the adlantic the ship arrived and one week later I got my bike. The shipping from Englad cost about GBP400 the customs cost a further $300 US. once in Mexico you must buy a temp import licence the customs agent will help with this as it has to be done at a state bank, not to shaw what happens comming over a land boarder but you must sigh the licence back when leaving Mexico as it is a guarantee against you selling your bike it cost's about $25 US. Customs in Veracruz should be best left to customs agents. They will save a lot of leg work and frustration but make sure you agree on all price's first. Hope this helps.

Ok thanks for the Info. I'm looking at airfreight at the moment and I'm prepared to pay a bit extra in order to get the bike out here as quick as possible. Any suggestions for Airfreight agencies? Would I be better off looking here in Monterrey or in the UK?
