Panama to Colombia
The first week of Jan works for us. We are riding on two Kawasaki Super Sherpas. Small bikes take small spaces. Let us know some more details and maybe we will be in. We are crossing from El Salvador to Honduras tomorrow. Planning on making a hasty journey to Panama so should be there in a week.

Panama to Columbia via container
Hey you guys, Im gonna be about 2 months behind you......please let me know how this goes. Who did you contact, how much it cost, and how much did you pay? Seems like the most expensive part of this trip to me...

|
Hi David!
Finally we get to meet up again. We are in Arenal, CR and will be leaving on Saturday (Jan 2) and heading your way. Let us know your plans. Taz & Joel |
a bit behind...
I'm a bit behind you folks...don't think I can make it to Panama in a week (currently in San Salvador) but thought I'd answer because YES, I am interested in a cheap option crossing over to South America.
<> Anyone reading this doing a container from Central America to the bottom of South America? It has occurred to me that I might prefer riding NORTH. ~MAG |

hi please let me know if you get delayed as I would be interested. However I won't be in Panama for 3 weeks. Larry |
When...
Hi: Currently in south Nicaragua... I can look to be counted in if there is still space, for my KLR650. How many bikes so far, how much is it working out to? Also how much time do I have to get to the port... Please contact, Thanks!!!!!

Copa Airlines should start flying cargo again in January. They cost approx U$600 and you don't need to crate the bike or empty liquids out!
Routes to either Bogota, Medellin or down here to Cali. I'd be happy to help with customs if you fly down to Cali.... |
Hello?? Has this ship already sailed?
|
hi 3 of us went to the shipping office and the was a container going that had 2 cars in it so we went so much paying for the space just the loading, paper work and all the rest they like to add on .and the would be more cost in colombia to get the bikes out so in the end we felt that it is not such a good deal.so we are going on a sail boat with the bikes.the is a RORO going later in the month that is cheeper.but i dont have the detals sorry

what about banana boat ?
This seems a logical thread to post this one in . . . . . .
We are travelling 4x4, already have some contacts for sharing a 40' High Cube into Columbia towards end of Feb BUT . . . . . . . . . . Have been told that there is a 'banana boat' working back n forth to the Coco Solo dock/port at Colon (Panama), aparently they have ramps on one of the ships used ( Elizabeth 111 ) and so possible to 'easily' drive either car or bike onto boat. Again aparently these ships are 'happy' to shift vehicle AND humans!!!! at very reasonable cost (i know a guy who was quoted $300 for his landrover 110 about 2 weeks ago). However, this option takes a bit of 'on the ground' sorting !!! ??? My question really is to ask is anybody aware of this route and does anybody have ACTUAL knowledge / contact with somebody that has done it ? Timing wise if a few of us (bikes and 4x4s) can combine it should enable an easier arangement and safer processing and of course we all save money ! |
