Panama City, Panama to Los Angeles, CA
 

I did a search, but was surprised to find no threads on this route. I've been doing quite a bit of research on this, as I'll be attempting to ship my motorcycle back to Los Angeles from Panama City, Panama around the beginning of April, 2015. I am open to conainer share, etc., if anyone is interested.

Any resources you could point me to would be great! First post btw!

I'm also surprised at the lack of threads on getting a bike back to the U.S. from Panama. It's a real longshot for me, but I just might be able to find time to ride from home (near San Francisco, California) to the end of the road in Yaviza -- but definitely not enough time to also ride back unless I basically did nothing else except ride the whole time, and that's not much fun.

Anyway, I wouldn't care how long the return shipment took (so sea is fine) or where on the West Coast it ended up (San Francisco or Oakland would be ideal, but Los Angeles or Seattle would be acceptable if necessary). Uncrated is easiest and would allow me the most time having fun, but crating the bike for shipment by air or sea would certainly be possible if it saved a chunk of money.

This would be a Honda 500, which weighs about 400 pounds without fuel or gear. Call it about 500 pounds with a slat-style crate.

Any ideas? Has nobody else really done this? I see that the few people who have shipped by air from Costa Rica to the West Coast spent a ton of money, and that some people shipped by air from Panama to Miami for much less -- but Miami actually isn't much closer to home for me than Panama is! The bike would still be 3,000 miles from home.
