Shipping to Anchorage

Hi Carlos

Sue and I will be heading to Anchorage in June 09 heading south and will be using james Cargo to air freight the bike, by all accounts shipping by sea is non starter and air freight should only take 2 to 3 days depending on freight flight frequency. We are now in the process of working out the best way to enter the US either using the visa waiver programme or applying for a B2 tourist visa. We were originally going from Manchester but all the cheap flights to Anchorage tend to fly through Heathrow unless you know differently, from what we have been told you turn up with the bike they crate it and ship it all you do is get the next available flight and pick the bike up in Anchorage, a couple of hours and your'e on the road (so they say) Have a look at their site below and good luck, we may meet on the road at some point.

shipping to anchorage

Hi there, not sure if you've made the freight arrangements yet. I live near anchorage and i've had a number of things freighted here from the states, not london, but i might suggest you consider shipping it sea cargo to the states (east coast probably cheapest) and once here getting it connected by road to Anchorage. I have shipped a couple motorbikes to AK from the lower states by highway and it is reasonably cheap. You could find a freight forwarder to make the arrangements as trucks run to alaska often all winter long. They would charge you based on an LCL (less than container load ) basis. GOod luck
