Help needed after accident / shipping out from Tajikistan a.s.a.p.

Hi folks,

I am in need for assistence after accident in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. The bike front is damaged, and will roll in emergency mode only, but no further travelling. Especially not Pamirs. :( Due to overall circumstances I want to fly the motorcycle home instead of waiting for parts which need to be shipped in anyway. Germany is preferred destinantion, but all Europe (and even Turkey) would do due to I can organise the left mile from there more easily and with assistance.

Currently browsing the HUBB and web for transport companies but I am all by myself so your tips condensed here come highly appreciated.

- has anybody flying out the bike from Dushanbe before into Europe?
- recommended agent?
- experiences with air customs authorities locally?
- prolongation of import permit into Tajikistan (I have time left until 19 July)
- etc.

Thanks much
Andreas

I'm afraid I can't be of much help, but you might want to look at putting it on a truck to get to a more busy freight terminal such as Almaty

There is a border crossing just south of Khujand (called Ovchi Kalacha / Kulundu) which takes you into Kyrgyzstan.

Have a look at this thread about extending the customs allowance for a vehicle.

Hope you find something soon,

EO

Hello Andreas,

sorry I am also not of great help with your problem, but I would try to find a logistical company to truck the bike back to Germany. Maybe find somebody to crate it, so with the dimensiones of the crate you can get proper quotes. I guess flying is possible, but would take more time to organise in Dushanbe.

Good luck.

Hi,

If the bike still runns in emergency mode i would just ride it home. I could fly in and do this for you and/or bring some parts. Just PN me if needet :)

In my opinion best option is to transport it at least to Kyrgyzstan.
Sambor transports bikes to/from Bishkek a few times every summer.

Thanks all for the input!
What I meant with 'emergency mode' is that you can't properly steer because cockpit blocks handlebars and would be no fun at all on the bad central Asia asphalt and crazy driving.

Two out of three aircratf freight forwarders already declined my request, the third (local) is still calculating...
The repair option comes in closer and the local bike house has offered me help, even if the chief mechanic is more than 500 km away. So by that I maybe can drive the bike to a more busy place, as suggested, or even home. Might take some days in the workshop and by that the prolongation of the permit might be needed...

Thanks all, will let you know coming days decisions...
