exporting motorcycle from England to Canada

Help anyone please,

English man with English Honda NX650 Dominator, will be emigrating to Sidney, on West coast of Vancouver Island, in BC Canada.

I have no idea how to get my bike over there, what paperwork and how to obtain it, or wether it will be allowed in due to emissions laws, changes with headlamps and lighting, speedo etc.

Any advice on what to do and how to achieve it would be greatly appreciated.

The bike is a 644 air cooled four stroke, registered in 1999. I have an ownership document, MOT certificate etc. Need to know step by step what to do as I have never taken a bike out of the country before.

Thanks

Hi Paul,
I have no idea but I live in Vancouver BC so this is where i would start. I have 2 webs sites that would probably help you. The first is the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia www.icbc.com. They deal with your driver's license, vehicle registration and insurance. You should be able to find most of your answers there and I did see a section under FAQ's about new driver's to BC. The other website is the government of BC site www.gov.bc.ca/. The only other place I think you would need to go (but maybe the ICBC people can help put you in the right direction) would be our Canada Customs and Revenu. Their web address is www.ccra-adrc.gc.ca. I hope that helps. You can also email me directly if you have more questions. I lived on Vancouver Island for a few years.
all the best, Danette

Okay, one more thing I found a thread under this web site in the section of North America under the Bulletin Board. the web site that they found the most information from seemed to be
http://www.tc.gc.ca/roadsafety/importusa/impxus_e.htm
