Europe to Egypt
Dear,
I am planning to drive from Poland to Ethiopia in spring '19. Could anyone advise the easiest way to get from Europe to Egypt? Is there any direct ferry or perhaps from Turkey to Lebanon and further down through Israel to Sinai? Can't find reliable info on the web. |
plan to travel in Jan19
Hello all!
I also planned to travel at that time but now things have changed I have to leave already in January 2019. After searching in the Forum without any result I started to write to shipping agencies. My plan was to go via Israel to Egypt, but Motorcycles are banned from Sinai (beginning of Feb 2018) and so the only option seem to be to go from Europe to Egypt. The only quote I got so far is from Salerno (Italy - south of Naples) to Ashdod in Israel (7 day cruise; around € 1.000 on a freight carrier ship) but this is no option anymore. Any help / information is highly appreciated! Tom |

Italy - Israel is up an running. But if you can't go via Sinai (by Motorcycle) this is no option for Egypt anymore

Piraeus - Alexandria with Grimaldi is no problem.
Some friends just freighted their car across. Took 11 days. But you yourself have to fly, passengers can’t enter Egypt via ship. |

Europe - Egypt seems to be to complicated if even possible.
I'm planning Italy - Israel - Jordan - Egypt or Sudan Anyone any information about Jordan to Egypt / Sudan? |
There are car ferries from Turkey (Tasucu) to Lebanon (Tripoli): https://ferries-turkey.com/ferry-rou...-en.html#start
There is also a ferry from Jordan to Egypt, but it terminates north of Sharm el Sheikh - technically still Sinai, so it's an open question if you can ride along the coastal road where all the touristy stuff is (presumably well protected) and the moto ban applies only to the Taba-Suez part. Vehicle Tickets Prices | Arab Bridge Maritime - Jordan - Egypt - Iraq I guess the Lebanon-Israel land border is currently open, but of course that's always subject to rapid change. Honestly, I think freight from Piraeus is the most reliable option. |

People have gone from Lebanon to Israel via Jordan successfully in the past - I am not sure if this route is still available.
However, one word of warning - some countries in the Middle East will refuse you entry is you have an Israeli stamp in your passport or an exit stamp from, say, somewhere in Jordan where the only place to go afterwards is to Israel. |

I'm not sure if this is still useful but we are about to book a freight liner (i.e. vehicle shipping with accommodation cabin on board for ourselves) from Salerno (Italy) to Ashdod (Israel) with Grimaldi lines. This route is still very much running.
I have also been in contact with someone else who recently did this route by motorbike and had no problem crossing the Sinai peninsula. Hope this helps, Lottie |
Hey Lottie! I had the same plan and have already the quote for the Ferry (beg. of Feb from Salerno).
I'm in touch with people from Egypt and they can't tell me if I'm able to cross Sinai / Border. Jordan is still the best option but no one really can tell. When are you planning to go and are you going by car or bike? Tom |
Just looking into this too. Currently in India and planning to ship the car to Durban, then drive up the East-coast back to Holland.
Based on all your research - is i safe to conclude NO ferry's from Egypt to Europe? Has anyone looked into RoRo options to Europe? |
The RoRo boat our car is on (eh.. from Japan) appareantly can make an optional stop in Alexandria: please see east asia route brochure on https://www.hoeghautoliners.com/trade-routes
And then fill in their contact form. NYK RoRo passes through Egypt but does not stop there. |
