container sharing - Malaysia to Chennai, ASAP (Aug 2013)

All,

Sorry, this is a re-post, I messed up the subject - we are shipping in 2013!!

We are soon to be shipping from malaysia to india - just trying to sort details with the freighting companies now. We will have space in our container for a few bikes too. If anyone is interested then please do not hesitate to get in touch.

We think we have now arranged the container, it will be packed on Friday (23/08/2013), so if you are interested, please get in touch. Our Malaysian number is +60 11 2412 7739

Cheers,
Vaughan

You have currently booked a whole sea container for how many bikes at the moment (and this should cost you roughly about how much?)

For reference, I´ve sent a V-Strom from Chennai to Bangkok via Kuala Lumpur by air, and that cost me about 600 euros including everything (except my own flight tickets). This was back in 2008, though. But it was a lot faster than by sea would have been ...and I was warned that there were some sort of “slow-down strikes” going on at Chennai seaport at the time, so nobody had a clue, if it was going to take 2 or 6 weeks by sea – in fact I would be reluctant to send shipments to any seaport in India, unless you really want to enjoy their very thorough bureaucracy to the fullest!! But I´ve never sent to India myself, as I crossed the land border to get there, so this is just my gut feeling. But there have been a few horror stories about the subject on this site during the years.

My bike was flown by Malaysian Airlines MASKargo, if you haven´t got bikes to fill the whole container, could be worth asking them about airfreight as well.

I don´t know, if this is helpful, but just thought I´d mention.

Fyi...We did airfreight this year from chennai to Bangkok and paid about $1500. Messing with sea freight now from Asia to Canada and its taking months!
