Can you ship a motorcycle inside a van?

I'm going to ship my van from Europe to Canada but want to take my dual sport bike that is usually carried on the back. When shipping a van, can you put the moto inside the van and ship it for the vehicle price?

I'd have thought so - as long as you have the registration/ownership documents for both vehicles, and the bike is secured safely inside the van.

People ship [overland] vehicles with motorcycles on the back all the time - putting inside might well save you a little cost based on the reduction in overall length - although if the rack is still attached then you might as well leave the bike on the back too I imagine.

I would contact the shipping company you intend to use and ask them to confirm.

ps. if you're looking for a company to ship from the UK, then Shippio deal with both cars/vans and motorcycles across the Atlantic regularly - I've used them in the past and it was very straightforward: https://shippio.com/index.php

It depends entirely on the policies of the carrier (the shipping company). The carriers can set whatever policies they wish to.

Commonly, the carriers forbid anything being included within the vehicle (clothes, boxes, etc.) - whether this is due to concerns about fire and safety or concerns about customs procedures at either end I do not know.

Check with the carrier that you plan to ship with and find out what their policies are, but I am not optimistic that you will be allowed to ship one vehicle inside of another.

I'd also be sure to tell them when asking about it that the bike will be completely drained of gas and battery disconnected, or even removed. Their biggest concern will be fire risk.
Good luck and be sure to tell us what you learn!
